The National Museum of Cinema, which is well-known across the world for its diverse range of programs and displays, rises upward in the Mole Antonelliana like a spiral, advancing the history of the film industry on several levels. The Archaeology of Cinema is located on the first floor, and the Temple Hall and the Film Machine are next.
The Mole building was originally intended as a synagogue by architect Alessandro Antonielli in 1863 and finished in 1889 before being transformed into a monument for national unity. The panoramic lift, which debuted in 1961 and is still operational, provides access to the 85-meter-high temple (the lift is not included in the ticket!).
