Discover Dürnstein
Our first stop is the charming town of Dürnstein, instantly recognisable by the dramatic castle ruins that rise above it. These ruins once held England’s King Richard the Lionheart captive and today offer spectacular panoramic views over the Danube Valley. Wander through the picturesque streets where history and nature come together in a truly unique setting.
Spitz and the Danube Valley
Next, we continue to Spitz, an idyllic riverside town nestled among rolling vineyards. During the summer months, you will also enjoy a relaxing boat cruise on the Danube, gliding past terraced vineyards, forested hills and charming riverbanks that define the Wachau’s unmistakable beauty.
Melk Abbey: A Baroque Masterpiece
The final highlight of the day is Melk, home to the magnificent Melk Abbey. This world-famous Baroque monastery towers high above the Danube and is considered one of Europe’s most impressive religious landmarks. During a guided visit, you’ll learn about its rich history and its important role in medieval and early modern Europe, while admiring its lavish interiors and stunning architecture.
Return to Vienna
After our visit to Melk Abbey, we travel back to Vienna by comfortable coach, arriving at approximately 6:00 PM, bringing this scenic and cultural journey to a perfect close.
